FirstFrame Speed Check tests how fast a Shopify store's pages load on a phone and reports the results to the store owner. This page explains what it reads and keeps. Last updated 4 November 2026.
What the app reads from Shopify
- The store's name, main web address, time zone, plan type (to know whether it is a development store) and contact email.
- The web addresses and titles of the store's published products and collections (permission "read products"), only to choose which pages to test. Orders and customers are never read.
What the app keeps
- The addresses and titles of the 3 pages being tested (home, one product, one collection).
- For each test: the speed score, the timings, the names and sizes of the scripts that loaded on the page, Google's suggestions, and Google's real-visitor summary when Google has one. Kept for up to 400 days so the trend can be shown.
- The email address alerts go to (the store's contact email, or another address the store enters) and the store's email settings.
- Shopify access tokens for the store, so the daily test can run. They are deleted when the app is uninstalled.
What the app does not keep
No customer data of any kind: no shopper names, emails, addresses, orders, IP addresses or browsing activity. The app adds nothing to the storefront and does not track visitors.
Who else sees data
- Google PageSpeed Insights receives the public web address of each page being tested and loads it the way a visitor would. Google's real-visitor figures come from its own Chrome User Experience Report.
- Railway hosts the app and stores the data above (encrypted at rest).
- Our email provider delivers alert and weekly emails to the store.
Nothing is sold, used for advertising or shared with anyone else.
Deleting data
Uninstalling the app stops all tests and deletes the store's access tokens. About 48 hours later Shopify asks us to erase the store's data, and everything kept for that store is deleted. Shopify's customer privacy requests are answered too; as no customer data is held, there is nothing to send or delete. To have a store's data removed sooner, email us.
